Canonsburg General Hospital

Welcome to Canonsburg General Hospital, part of the West Penn Allegheny Health System.
A true community hospital strives to keep the residents of its community healthy, not just to serve them when they are sick. That's why Canonsburg General Hospital offers a range of programs to help people preserve their health, as well as special programs to speed recovery when a hospital stay is unavoidable. That's also why we're involved in so many community activities, and why we go to great lengths to reach out to the elderly and infirmed. Most importantly, it's why we provide such a wide range of medical, surgical and diagnostic services close to home. With an active and growing ambulatory care center, along with emergency services, cardiac catheterization services, home care and occupational programs. Keeping you well is really why CGH is here.
In keeping with this mission, Canonsburg hospital has recently partnered with the Allegheny General Hospital Department of Radiation Oncology to initiate a prostate cancer seed implant program. Seed implantation of the prostate [brachytherapy] has revolutionized the treatment of prostate cancer by allowing many patients to choose a safe and highly effective form of treatment that is minimally invasive. Seed implant therapy has reduced the post-operative recovery time from 6-8 weeks for conventional prostate removal down to one or two days for seed implant patients. In addition, patients properly selected for this therapy have cure rates that are equal or better than any other form of treatment including radical surgery.
